Satch Cares Grant (2024)
Our Community Service Bee received a “Satch Cares” grant from local restaurant Satchel’s Pizza. The $500 grant will go to cover costs of batting and thread.
Holy Trinity Episcopal Church (2019, 2023, 2025)
The guild has received grants from The Shop at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. Funded by Holiday Bazaar profits, Saint Elizabeth Circle grants are given to support church ministries and community nonprofit charities. Each February, the Grants Committee reviews applications for grant funding and sends recommendations to the entire circle for approval.
Fairfield Batting Grant (2022)
The Community Service group applied for a “We Make for Good” grant from Fairfield Fibers. Shortly after applying, the company donated enough batting for approximately 20 quilts, and 10 pounds of Poly Fill fiberfill for medical dolls. Thank you Fairfield Fibers!

Handmade Hero Award (2021)
QACDG received a $1,000 Handmade Hero award from Joann Fabric and Craft Stores. We appreciate their generous support, and were sorry to see the closing of Joann stores in 2025. Many thanks to everyone who sewed and quilted for Community Service, and a special thanks for those who took photos and kept such good records to document our donations. You really helped provide the required documentation for the application.
Quilt Trail
To celebrate National Quilt Month, in March 2020, QACDG collaborated with the Alachua County Library District to host The Quilt Trail – a stunning exhibit of quilts and quilting techniques at libraries throughout the county. The goal was to introduce library patrons to the vast range of quilting styles and inspire them with the artistic possibilities of quilting. The 2021 show was hosted online only. Quilt Trail returned to the library branches in March 2023.
Face Masks for UF Health/Shands Hospital
During the Coronavirus pandemic of 2020, our Community Service Bee spearheaded an emergency face mask drive for UF Health/Shands’ medical staff to protect them during the Coronavirus crisis. These masks were made with special material donated by UF, and designed and tested to be safe for medical personnel working with COVID-19 patients. By the time this project ended, QACDG quilters had sewn and donated 2,260 face masks!
